A MOUNTED HUNTER WITH TWO HOUNDS BRONZE STATUE BY PIERRE JULES MENE - A bronze grouping by Pierre-Jules Mène, titled ”Valet de chasse” (”The Chase”), early 20th century, signed P. J. Mène, dark patinated bronze. The grouping depicts a mounted hunter with a tricorn and horn, on a naturalistic plinth with dogs. Footnote: A French sculptor (1810 - 1879), self-taught, was one of the pioneers of animal sculpture, his works are exhibited in the Louvre in Paris, in Marseille, Rouen and Melbourne.
