A GILT-SILVER OKLAD RUSSIAN ORTHODOX ICON OF CHRIST PANTOCRATOR, 19TH CEN. - An antique Russian Orthodox icon of Christ Pantocrator oil painted on wood in a gilt oklad with cloisonne enamel. Christ is depicted holding an open volume of the Testament, his open hand raised in blessing, and a halo finely decorated in polychrome cloisonne enamel and gilt of scrolling, floral, and beaded ornamentation. His robes are in repousse and accentuated with guilloche designs. The Cyrillic lettering along the borders and halo, and the Testament are of a dark blue enamel. The entire icon resides within a wooden box with a glass windowed door. Silver hallmarks at the bottom of the icon along the robe. Silver Hallmarks: 84 silver proof, Kokoshnik mark.
