A RARE 19TH CENTURY NAUTICAL GIMBAL OIL LAMP, WROUGHT IRON - A rare wrought iron nautical oil lamp comprised of 3 swiveling gimbal rings with the double-wicked oil-well at center, all kept within a hinged spherical cage with an attachment ring at the top. The gimbal rings allow the lamp to remain level despite the motion of the ship, preventing dangerous spills in rough seas. 19th Century. Dimensions: H: 5 in., (12.7 cm.)
