AN INDIAN MINIATURE PAINTING, PAHARI SCHOOL, SHIVA, BRAHMA AND GANESHA ON THE NANDI BULL - Pahari paintings originated from the lower Himalayan hill kingdoms of North India during the 17th century. Done mostly in miniature forms small towns like Basholi, Mankot, Nurpur, Chamba, Kangra, Guler, Mandi and Garhwal developed their own distinct style of paintings. Nain Sukh was a famous master artist from the mid-18th century followed by his family workshop for another two generations. The central theme of Pahari's painting is a depiction of the eternal love of Radha and Krishna. The portrayal of human emotions and physical features distinguish the Pahari paintings from the other miniature schools like Deccan, Mughal, Rajasthani, and others.
