A PAIR OF HAND-COLORED ENGRAVED VIEWS OF VIENNA, C. 1870 - Two hand-colored engraved views of Vienna. The first shows the Hofburg, then the official seat of government and residence of the Emperor of Austria, as seen from the nearby Burggarten. The second shows the Franz-Josefs-Kai along the Donaukanal, with its old telegraph poles and horse-drawn carriages. These engravings were created c. 1870 by Ludwig Rohbock (1824-1893) of Nuremberg, a prolific engraver, painter, and draughtsman active throughout the lands of the former Holy Roman Empire.
