The artwork depicts a large crowd ice-skating in front of the famous Bow Bridge in New York City's Central Park. The bridge was completed the same year as the creation of this artwork. Lithographed and published by Currier and Ives (American, 1835 - 1907). Note: Currier and Ives was a New York City printmaking business that operated between 1835 and 1907. Founded by Nathaniel Currier, the company designed and sold inexpensive, hand-painted lithographic works based on news events, and views of popular culture and Americana.
