A 19TH C. CURRIER AND IVES LITHOGRAPH PRINT, 'THE ROAD, WINTER', FRAMED - A 19th-century hand-colored lithograph print ”The road, - Winter”. The artwork depicts a couple in a carriage drawn by two horses against a winter landscape. Published by Nathaniel Currier (American, 1813 - 1888) in 1853, just a few years prior to James Ives being elevated to partner and the business becoming known as Currier & Ives. Signed lower left. Note: Currier and Ives was a New York City printmaking business that operated between 1835 and 1907. Founded by Nathaniel Currier, the company designed and sold inexpensive, hand-painted lithographic works based on news events, and views of popular culture and Americana.
