A FINE ENGRAVED STEEL PLAQUE AFTER ANTOINE WATTEAU (1684-1721) 'LE CONTEUR' - A fine, colored, engraved steel plaque after the engraving by Charles Nicolas Cochin (1688-1754), which was in turn after the painting by French artist Antoine Watteau (1684-1721). This piece, entitled 'Le Conteur', depicts the eponymous storyteller holding a guitar whilst riveted listeners stand behind her, an impassioned actor in the foreground reaching towards her breast. The plaque is kept within an ebonized frame set with suspension rings on the verso. Please make all inquiries before bidding. All lots are sold ”as-is”, refer to our T&C. Condition: The plaque itself is in very good condition with a few minor scratches. The frame may be older than the plaque, and appears to have a couple of chips.
