A 19TH CEN. RUSSIAN ORTHODOX ICON OF CHRIST AND FOUR SAINTS IN SILVER OKLAD - The icon depicts four Orthodox saints pictured full-figured under Christ in Heaven. It is covered with the silver oklad, finely chased, and features repousse borders and ornate haloes. Hallmarks: 84 silver standard, George the Victorious for Moscow, maker's mark 'FT' in Cyrillic, most likely for Fedor Timofeev, assay's mark 'AK' dated 1847. Bears an old paper label hand-inscribed in Italian attached to the backside. Russia, the first half of the 19th century. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
