AN INDIAN GILT MINIATURE OF SHAH JAHAN AND MUMTAZ MAHAL WITH THE TAJ MAHAL - A beautifully painted and gilt miniature of Shah Jahan and his wife Mumtaz Mahal. When Mumtaz Mahal died in 1631, Shah Jahan commissioned the construction of the Taj Mahal to act as her tomb. The structure can be seen at the center of the artwork, set between the two lovers who stare at each other across the page. Late 18th - early 19th century. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
