A HORSE-HEADED KHANJAR, NORTH INDIA, 19TH CENTURY - With a gilt-bronze horse-head-shaped pommel khanjar dagger, the eyes are set with turquoise. The gilt-bronze hilt is embellished with an engraved floral motif. With a slightly re-curved Wootz steel blade. Openwork gilt-brass-mounted scabbard covered in red original velvet, decorated with floral arabesques. The blade may be older than the mounts. North India, 19th century.
