A RARE NAPOLEONIC PERIOD "SLATE ROOFING HAMMER", C.1800
A rare museum piece, ca. 1800 of the Napoleonic period "slate roofing hammer", hand-forged caff: Assette on Essette, specially made to cut and trim the slate at measure, punch holes and fuse the slate on the roof with a nail. The hammer is shaped like a Napoleonic hat with the letter "N" at the center.
