A VERY LARGE INDONESIAN KRIS HOLDER LORD HANUMAN FIGURE, 19TH / 20TH CENTURY - A finely sculpted wooden figure of Lord Hanuman, the Hindu monkey deity and legendary hero, shown kneeling with a cup in his hands which has been hollowed out to hold a kris dagger. He is painted throughout and wears brightly gilt ornaments, as well as a checkered skirt. Indonesia, 19th or 20th century. Please make all inquiries before bidding. Signs of age and wear. Some pigment was lost, especially at edges. Normal contraction crack on the wooden base at both sides, one of them filled and painted.
