AN ITALIAN STONEBOW WITH CARVED WOOD STOCK, LATE 17TH OR EARLY 18TH CENTURY - An Italian stonebow, 17th/18th century with slender steel bow retained by a pair of moulded irons, carved hardwood tiller of characteristic form with an intricately worked grotesque of a mythological figure, further decorated with slender panels of ropework, the rear portion incorporating a scroll and with bevelled edges, turned knob-shaped finial, fitted with moulded steel trigger operating the string release, moulded steel back-sight, and fixed two prong fore-sight.
