A GILT ITALIAN ARMORIAL SWORD, NOVATI TORINO, 20TH CENTURY - With a bright, highly detailed, gilt bronze hilt, sculpted to appear as the Greek god Neptune, trident in hand, standing atop a fish and leaning against a pillar adorned with sea life. The guard appears as a nude man reclining amidst an overflowing cornucopia. Below the guard is an armorial symbol of a bear in front of a cypress tree. The reverse is stamped 'NOVATI / TORINO'. The blade is long and wavy, with its fuller decorated with foliate patterning. Italy, first half of the 20th century. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
