A RUSSIAN SILVER-MOUNTED WALKING CANE WITH COMPARTMENT, 1896 - A finely made Imperial Russian walking cane with a silver handle decorated with a framed medallion of St. George to the front and the Imperial Eagle to the cap, as well as incised patterning and delicate scrollwork bands. The cap is hinged and opens up to reveal a hidden compartment, about the size of a shot glass. The silver is hallmarked with the 84 silver proof, the Imperial Eagle, and the date 1896 below the initials 'OC'. The body of the cane is comprised of a nut-brown wood ending in a brass end-cap.
