AN ARGENTINA GAUCHO COWBOY BONE CHAIR WITH LEATHER SEAT, 20TH CEN. - An interesting Argentine Gaucho chair is comprised of the pelvis bones of cows tied together with leather straps that also act as the woven seat of the chair. This type of chair was made by the iconic Gauchos of Argentina, the semi-nomadic cowboys who once roamed the Pampas Plain in South America. The ease of access to bone and leather as materials made these chairs quick and cheap to produce when needed. They are still rarely seen in the old Gaucho homeland today, relics of a bygone era that has since passed into legend, much like our Old West cowboys in America. Argentina, early to mid-20th century.
