A MEIJI JAPAN LARGE WOODEN HIBACHI FIRE BOWL WITH MOTHER OF PEARL - A highly ornate wooden Hibachi, translated as 'fire bowl', decorated with beautiful garden scenes comprised of gilt-brass with mother of pearl accents. Two trefoil shaped brass handles affixed to the sides. The center of the bowl with a copper alloy insert, meant to hold hot coals for use as a portable heater or for tea. It could also be used for flowers or other plants in a modern home. Meiji Era Japan, 19th or early 20th century. Please make all inquiries before bidding. All lots are sold ”as-is”, refer to our T&C. Condition: Wooden body well preserved, with some minor scratches in places, consistent with medium and age. Small damage to brass inlay and mother of pearl in places, but largely intact. Bowl fits well, interior with expected signs of age and use.
