A CHINESE FAMILLE ROSE MEDALLION TEACUP AND SAUCER, 19TH CEN. - A fine example of Chinese porcelain in the Rose Medallion style cup and saucer set, made for export during the Qing Dynasty, most likely mid to late 19th century. Famille rose palette with overglaze enamels featuring intricate hand-painted panels depicting birds, butterflies, roses, and peonies (symbols of beauty and prosperity). Surrounded by dense scrolling foliage and auspicious motifs. Divided cartouches bordered by gilded bands and bright green, pink, and orange enamels. The handle is delicately molded and painted. The pattern was used for the porcelain items known as ”Rose Medallion”, part of the broader Canton famille rose group frequently exported to Europe and America from Canton (Guangzhou) in the mid-1800s. Hand-painting quality and shape indicate it is pre-1900, likely from the Tongzhi or Guangxu reigns. Please make all inquiries before bidding. All lots are sold ”as-is”, refer to our T&C.
