A FINE ROYAL VIENNA PORCELAIN VASE, COMTESSE DU BARRY, 19TH CENTURY - A beautifully ornate Vienna Porcelain vase emblazoned with a portrait of the Comtesse du Barry (1744-1793), the last maîtresse-en-titre of King Louis XV of France. She was famously executed during the reign of terror in the midst of the French Revolution. The verso is emblazoned with a shield, torch, and quiver of arrows. Both sides painted with bright gilding and surrounded by vining fruits and appliqués resembling strings of pearls. The underside is marked with the Vienna Porcelain mark at its center and the name of the lady, ”Comtesse du Barry”. The rim is also numbered '5491/U.346' and '116'. Vienna, Austria, 19th century.
