AN ART DECO BRONZE DANCER BY MAURICE JOSSELIN, FRENCH, CA. 1925 - An Art Deco bronze dancer in classical attire, mid-movement, an archetypal pose for the period, signed Josselin, referring to the French sculptor Maurice Josselin. Maurice Josselin was active in France during the early 20th century and is known for elegant female dancer figures, often in motion, reflective of the ballet and cabaret culture of the Art Deco period. His works typically exhibit flowing lines, graceful anatomy, and a sense of kinetic energy all present in this sculpture. The sculpture is executed in patinated bronze with a silvered finish, on a stepped black marble base with brown/gold veining, typical for 1920s–30s Art Deco presentation.
