A RENEE SINTENIS BRONZE SCULPTURE OF TWO GAZELLES, GERMAN, 1930 - A bronze sculpture by Renée Sintenis features two stylized reclining gazelles or antelopes, cast in a simplified, modernist form. They are mounted on a rectangular marble base, which adds a refined and stable presentation. The figure is cast as a male and female gazelle, symbolizing grace and tranquility with streamlined, abstracted anatomy. Smooth, softly modeled surfaces with simplified lines are typical German school (circa 1930s–1950s). Renee Sintenis (1888–1965) was a prominent German sculptor known for her small-scale animal bronzes, particularly horses, dogs, and deer. She was associated with the Berlin Secession and later the Academy of Arts in Berlin, and her work became highly popular in the 1920s–30s. Sintenis had a signature modernist style—stylized, elegant, and simplified forms, often with a focus on poise and expression rather than anatomical accuracy.
