AN ART DECO BRONZE FIGURE OF A NUDE WOMAN SIGNED: ”G. PHILIPPE” - A finely cast Art Deco bronze figure of a nude woman with a stylized posture and elegant form, standing on a multicolored marble base. The sculpture is signed: ”G. Philippe” and stamped with a foundry mark ”AG Paris”. The artist: G. Philippe is the pseudonym of a French Art Deco sculptor, working in the 1920s–1930s, known for bronze and spelter statuettes, often of women, dancers, or mythological figures. Artists using the ”Philippe” name often worked with the Max Le Verrier studio or Susse Freres, producing decorative bronzes in the Art Deco style. This figure was also produced in gilt or cold-painted finishes. Provenance: The Collection of William Cervera (5/31/51 - 3/15/22). Please make all inquiries before bidding.
