A PAUL SILVESTRE SIGNED, FRENCH, PATINATED BRONZE ART DECO SCULPTURE, 1920S - A cast-bronze grouping entitled 'Faun & Goose', sculpted by the French sculptor Paul Silvestre (1884-1976) and cast by the Susse Freres Bronze Foundry in the 1920s. Silvestre was a prominent sculptor of his day, being named a Chevalier de la Légion d'honneur in 1906, and winning first prize for the Grand Prix de Rome in 1908, going on to become a regular exhibitor at the Salon des artistes français through the 1920s and 30s, receiving a number of other prestigious awards throughout the years. The sculpture is set within its original wooden base and is signed by the artist and the foundry on the surface of the bronze base. France, 1920s. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
