A SIGNED JOHN ROPER BRONZE GROUPING OF TWO HORSES PLAYING, 20TH CENTURY - A bronze grouping of two horses playing, sculpted by the American artist John Roper, the piece signed by him towards the front of the base and kept atop a short circular marble plinth. Roper has been producing and selling sculptures since at least the late 1960s, employing a loose and playful style that often blends cubist motifs with abstract direction. In the 1950s he attended the School of Industrial Arts at the Pratt Institute in Queens, New York and would spend many years in the city afterwards gaining much experience in art and music.
