A BORIS ANISFELD, RUSSIAN, BRONZE STATUE OF A NUDE WOMAN, CA. 1930 - Boris Anisfeld, a bronze sculpture depicting a nude woman. Signed by the author and numbered 1/9. Provenance: Bought from the artist's family by the current owner in 1995. Boris Anisfeld (1878-1973) was a Russian and American sculptor, lithographer, painter, illustrator, set designer, as well as a long-time teacher at the Art Institute of Chicago. From 1901 to 1909, he studied at the Odessa School of Art and at the Imperial Academy of Arts in Petrograd. In 1911 Anisfeld created the sets and costumes for Diaghilev's Russian Ballet's production of ”The Undersea Kingdom”. Anisfeld immigrated to the United States in 1917 and did stage designs for the Metropolitan Opera. Please make all inquiries before bidding. All lots are sold ”as-is”, refer to our T&C.
