AN USTAD ALLAH BUX, PAKISTANI, OIL ON CANVAS PAINTING, 1934 - Ustad Allah Bux (Pakistani, 1895 - 1978), an oil on canvas painting depicting two ladies in an idyllic landscape. Signed lower right and dated 16 12/34. Note: A leading proponent of the Western academic style, Allah Bux was bestowed the title of 'Ustad' or 'Master' because of his abilities and achievements as an artist. A master of both watercolor and oil painting, Bux painted from natural phenomena which he later adapted in the studio. His work is heavily influenced by both local and folk cultural heritage and Western artistic practice. The artist's depictions of rural Pakistani life and mythology have enjoyed great popularity and success. Provenance: according to the late collector and owner's son, the artwork is a part of the owner's late father's inheritance (Mirza Sami Baig Born, born: July 1, 1949, Hyd, India, passed away in India in 2013), which includes over 2500 artworks from India.
