Bidspirit auction | A SILVER POCKETWATCH WITH PAINTED
A SILVER POCKETWATCH WITH PAINTED RELIGIOUS/WEDDING SCENE, W/ KEY - Continental European verge fusee pocket watch, likely from the late 18th to early 19th century (circa 1790–1820). It’s quite distinct due to the painted enamel dial with figural scene, which was popular on watches made for the French, Swiss, or Austrian markets during that time. Almost certainly Swiss or French in origin. These decorative watches were made both for domestic use and for export to markets such as the Ottoman Empire, Russia, and England. The movement has been tested and it works well. Please make all inquiries before bidding. All lots are sold ”as-is”, refer to our T&C. Helios Auctions does not ship in-house. A list of recommended shippers will be provided. Dimensions: D: 2 1/8 in., (5.4 cm.) Condition: Mechanism tested and functional. Paint to dial slightly faded in places. Some minor dents to silver body.
