JAPANESE WOODBLOCK PRINT TRIPTYCH ANTIQUE BY BY TOYOHARA KUNICHIKA (1835–1900) - The style and layout suggest this is by Toyohara Kunichika (1835–1900), one of the leading ukiyo-e artists of the late Edo to early Meiji period, known for his kabuki actor prints. The print shows several kabuki actors in an emotional confrontation. The central female figure in elaborate hair ornaments and a kimono is likely an oiran (high-ranking courtesan) or an important female role in the drama. This is a three-panel (ōban tate-e triptych) composition, a common format for stage scenes. Dimensions: Size of each panel 9 by 13 1/2 in. Condition: Some wear.
