Ivanov in 1922. Depicting ballerina Tamara Karsavina in a vibrant costume inspired by Leon Bakst’s design for Stravinsky’s Firebird, her body arched and poised as if mid-dance, lavishly painted in vivid polychrome enamels and gold. Underside inscribed in Russian: ”Т. Карсавина в роли Жар-Птицы в балете И. Стравинского 'Жар-Птица'. Автор Р. Иванов.” (”T. Karsavina in the role of the Firebird in the ballet by I.
