A SOVIET PORCELAIN FIGURE OF TAMARA KARSAVINA, STATE PORCELAIN FACTORY, PETROGRAD, 1922 - This is a Soviet-era porcelain figure of ballerina Tamara Karsavina as the Firebird (Жар-Птица / Zhar-Ptitsa) in Igor Stravinsky’s ballet The Firebird, created by artist R. Ivanov in 1922. Depicting ballerina Tamara Karsavina in a vibrant costume inspired by Leon Bakst’s design for Stravinsky’s Firebird, her body arched and poised as if mid-dance, lavishly painted in vivid polychrome enamels and gold. Underside inscribed in Russian: ”Т. Карсавина в роли Жар-Птицы в балете И. Стравинского 'Жар-Птица'. Автор Р. Иванов.” (”T. Karsavina in the role of the Firebird in the ballet by I.
