A LARGE BRONZE OF A STANDING ARAB WITH HORSE, FRANCE, 1840 - A detailed Orientalist-style bronze sculpture, French, from the late 19th century. It depicts a North African or Middle Eastern warrior or nomad, identifiable by the flowing robe, head covering (likely a burnous or keffiyeh), and dramatic pose with a rearing horse. The dynamic stance of the man and horse recalls the Romantic fascination with exotic subjects. Inspired by the Orientalist movement, which was especially popular in France during the Belle Époque (e.g., works by Antoine-Louis Barye, Émile-Coriolan Guillemin, or Alfred Boucher). These pieces often idealized and dramatized life in North Africa France, ca. 1840. Please make all inquiries before bidding. All lots are sold ”as-is”, refer to our T&C.
