AN EARLY 20TH C. LEON BAKST RARE COSTUME LITHOGRAPH, FRAMED - A rare, high-quality lithograph of one of the elaborate costume designs of famed Russian artist Leon Bakst (1866-1924). The costume consists of many layers of fabric, with the diaphanous white dress contrasting with the large floral-patterned fabric draping all around her. Leon Bakst was a prolific costume and set designer known most for his work with the famous Ballets Russes, of which this is an example. He created designs for some of their most well-known ballets, including Cléopâtre (1909), Le Spectre de la Rose (1911), and Daphnis et Chloé (1912), among many others.
