(FL. 1840-1880) BRITISH MARITIME OIL ON CANVAS PAINTING - A William McAlpine (fl. 1840-1880) attributed, oil on canvas painting depicting a tallship burning just offshore, the crew making a desperate escape in their rowboats. The painting appears to be unsigned, though it maintains all the characteristics of a McAlpine painting, and comes to us as a pair with a signed McAlpine which can also be found in this catalogue.
