AN INDIAN OR ANGLO-INDIAN CASKET, FROM THE LATE 19TH CENTURY - A rectangular domed casket on four fluted feet, with rounded corners and a hinged lid. Made of silvered bronze, with repoussé and chased floral arabesques typical of Indian craftsmanship, possibly from Kashmir or Lucknow. The interior is lined in green velvet. The exterior is decorated with engraved symmetrical foliate and paisley motifs, with detailed punchwork and hand chasing. The handle is hinged with twin serpent-head terminals.
