A PAIR OF ROYAL VIENNA PORCELAIN VASES, CA. 1900 - A PAIR OF ROYAL VIENNA PORCELAIN VASES, CA. 1900. Of elegant elongated baluster form with flared rim and stepped circular foot, each vase is richly decorated in the neoclassical style. The neck, shoulder, and base feature deep cobalt blue grounds adorned with intricate raised gilt foliate and geometric ornament. The central panels, reserved against a burnished gilt ground, are finely hand-painted with classical maidens—one shown standing, draped in flowing robes with a floral garland, the other seated with an urn—executed in soft pastel tones with delicate shading. Both scenes are framed by elaborate, gilt-scrolling borders. The verso bears the blue beehive mark of the Royal Vienna Porcelain Manufactory. These vases are characteristic examples of late 19th – early 20th century Royal Vienna production, showcasing the factory’s meticulous hand-painting and rich gilding, aimed at the decorative art market of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and beyond.
