A PAIR OF FRENCH EMPIRE-STYLE PORCELAIN VASES, 19TH CENTURY - A pair of French Empire-style porcelain vases from the 19th century, inspired by the early 1800s Empire period under Napoleon Bonaparte. This style was known for its use of classical Greek and Roman designs, symbolizing power. The vases have glossy black surfaces decorated with raised gold scrolls and leaves. Its features, such as the rims and handles, have green and gold accents. They reflect the elegant taste of the Napoleonic era, when these pieces were often displayed in homes to show status. Dimensions: H: 22 in., (56 cm.) Condition: Both appear to be in very good condition, and gilding is fairly well preserved. According to the current owner, one of the vases has a small restoration at the bottom, but it is not visible.
