A RUSSIAN SILVER-MOUNTED MALTSOV GLASS TEA CADDY, 19 CEN. - A RARE RUSSIAN SILVER-MOUNTED MALTSOV GLASS TEA CADDY Moscow, late 19th century. Of cylindrical form, the iridescent green Maltsov glass body with applied red “threading” in a sinuous network pattern, the domed silver-mounted cover chased with scrolling acanthus and rocaille ornament, opening to reveal a fitted silver inner lid with ring handle. The mounts struck with the Moscow city mark of St. George, 84 silver standard mark, assayer’s initials in Cyrillic within a circular cartouche, and the maker’s mark. Dimensions: H: 6 in., (15 cm.), D: 3 5/8 in., (8.5 cm.) Condition: Excellent structural condition. The Maltsov glass displays vibrant iridescent green with overlayed red threading in the Loetz-style pattern. No visible chips or cracks; surface wear is minimal. Silver mounts retain their original fit to the glass. The chased scrollwork on the lid is well defined, though silver surfaces show moderate tarnish and light surface abrasions consistent with age.
