AN EXCEPTIONAL PERSIAN SILVER HOOKAH BASE, QAJAR PERIOD, 19TH CENTURY - AN EXCEPTIONAL PERSIAN SILVER HOOKAH BASE, 19TH CENTURY. A finely crafted Persian silver hookah base from the 19th century, decorated with detailed hand-chased floral patterns. The lower section features a continuous line of standing figures in traditional dress, likely inspired by Persian culture, while the upper sections display scrolling vines and floral patterns. Hookahs were a central part of Persian social culture, used for smoking flavored tobacco in gatherings. Although the piece is made of mostly silver, the bottom is made of copper because the smoke would melt the silver otherwise. The condition is very good, although there are a few dents.
