A GILT-SILVER AND PLIQUE-À-JOUR ENAMEL EGG - An exquisite two-part gilt-silver egg-form box, finely worked in translucent plique-à-jour enamel throughout. The body is overlaid with a rhythmic grid of colorful enameled crosslets (X-shaped motifs) in translucent enamel over an open latticework structure, allowing light to pass through. Encircling the egg is a band of opaque Neo-Russian cloisonné enamel style, rendered in stylized geometric forms in blue, turquoise, and white enamel, bordered by twisted gilt wire.
