A FINE RUSSIAN GILT-SILVER TEA OR COFFEE SET BY BOLIN, 1896 - A FINE RUSSIAN GILT-SILVER TEA OR COFFEE SET BY BOLIN, MOSCOW, 1896. Comprising a tall baluster-form coffee or tea pot with a hinged domed lid and a turned finial, a twin-handled sugar bowl, and a cream jug; each of the tapering cylindrical forms has a flared rim and a flat circular foot, with the pot featuring a carved ivory insulator on the handle. All pieces have the interiors fully gilt. Hallmarks: K.L. BOLIN (Karl Ludvigovich Bolin), the famed Imperial Court jeweler and silversmith of Moscow. Assayer’s mark: Л.О. for Lev Oleks, active 1894–1896 in Moscow. Date: 1896, city mark: St. George (Moscow town mark), silver standard: 84 zolotniks (.875 purity). Total weight: 34.3 o., 971 g.
