A RUSSIAN SILVER-MOUNTED INKWELL CONTAINER BY OVCHINNIKOV, 1882 - An unusual Russian silver, natural materials, and amber vessel, possibly an inkwell by Ovchinnikov. Of an irregular oval shape, adorned with a relief scene depicting a Russian folk tale hero fighting with a beast, the finial is modeled as an amber beetle, and the sides are mounted with climbing mice. Raised on four ball feet. Hallmarks: A.K. 1882, 84 silver standard, George the Victorious for Moscow, OVCHINNIKOV (in Cyrillic). Moscow, circa 1882. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
