A LARGE LATE 19TH CENTURY RUSSIAN PARCEL-GILT SILVER FIGURE OF A BLACKSMITH ON RED MARBLE BASE, CIRCA 1880S - Finely cast and chased, the figure depicts a bearded blacksmith standing beside his anvil, clutching a heavy hammer and resting his other hand on his hip. He wears a traditional blacksmith's cap and apron over rolled-up sleeves and trousers, with detailed musculature and expressive facial features typical of late 19th-century Russian realism in sculpture. The figure is mounted on an impressive, round red marble plinth with a blank silver applied plaque intended for a presentation inscription. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
