A EUGENE LAURENT (1832-1898) BRONZE, PSYCHE WITH HER OIL LAMP, FRANCE, 19TH CEN. - A fantastic neo-classical sculpture by the French artist Eugène Laurent (1832-1898) depicting the Greek Goddess Psyche, complete with her butterfly wings, holding the gilt oil lamp which she used to gaze upon the face of Eros (aka Cupid). Her hair and arms are adorned with gilt bands and she is kneeling upon a similarly gilt plinth. The base is signed 'E Laurent' to the front of the base and numbered '332' to the rear.
