A FRANZ SEIFERT (1866-1951) AUSTRIAN BRONZE, YOUNG NUDE DANCER - A finely cast bronze sculpture of a nude youth in contrapposto, caught in a dynamic pose with raised arms and downward gaze, suggesting dance or introspection. The surface is finished in a dark greenish-brown patina with subtle highlights. The naturalistic modeling of the figure, elongated limbs, and idealized features are typical of Seifert’s academic yet expressive approach. Marked “Made in Austria, ” indicating this is a period piece cast for export, likely pre-World War II. Seifert was a leading sculptor in Vienna associated with decorative and allegorical bronzes, many produced for the international market. Signature: Incised ”FR. SEIFERT” on the base.
