The treatment is softly modernist—simplified in form but deeply expressive—demonstrating Patlajan’s skill in sculptural portraiture. Pavlos Patlajan was a Russian-Georgian sculptor of Armenian origin who studied in Tiflis and later worked in Moscow and Paris.
