A GLEB DERUJINSKY, RUSSIAN, AMERICAN, CAST BRONZE SCULPTURE OF PROMETHEUS - Gleb Derujinsky, a cast bronze sculpture in the Art Deco style and depicting a figure of young Prometheus holding flame in his outstretched right hand and balancing on a stepped cliff, mounted on a square green stone base, marked and dated '1939' on the bronze cliff Provenance: Bonhams London Russian sale 8.6.2016 lot 78; Literature: Gleb W. Derujinsky. Sculpture, 2002, page 23, illustrated. Gleb Derujinsky (1888-1975) was a Russian and American sculptor. Derujinsky began his artistic studies in the Imperial Society for the Encouragement of the Arts in Saint Petersburg in 1896. He moved to Paris in 1912, where he continued his studies at the Academie Colarossi and at the Academie Julian. His original sculptures in plaster done from life include Theodore Roosevelt, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Sergei Prokofiev, Lillian Gish, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Adlai Stevenson, John F.
