Accurse's commentary, the result of decades of work and compilation of earlier glosses, formed the basis of the ”Corpus Glossatorum, ” a true key to understanding Roman law for medieval and modern jurists. Its influence extends well beyond the 13th century, and this glossed tradition remained in use in European universities until the end of the Ancien Regime.
