A RARE SOUTHERN CAUCASUS AZERBAIJAN GEORGIAN KINDJAL DAGGER WITH BONE HANDLE AND GOLD DAMASCENE, 19TH CEN. - A 1830-1840's Caucasian kindjal dagger of characteristic form with an offset fuller and a grip of carved bone. The rivets of the grip and the blade have both been decorated in brilliant gold damascene. The piece is kept within a leather scabbard with a similarly damascened steel mount, and a chased iron chape with precious Persian hunting motifs. Southern Caucasus, 19th Century. Condition: Blade is in very good condition overall with only minor signs of pitting towards the tip. Gold inlay well preserved. Hilt tight to the blade, with some cracks and signs of old repair. Scabbard with some loss to leather.
