A GERMAN ENGRAVED HUNTING DAGGER WITH CHAIN KNUCKLEBOW, 18 C. - A finely crafted German Hirschfanger (hunting dagger) which has been engraved across the first third of its blade with militaristic and hunting motifs. The blade with a single wide fuller to each side and a gentle curve with a wide point. The hilt is comprised of a wooden grip set with six domed rivets decorated with punched floral designs. The pommel connected to the guard with a chain-link knucklebow. The guard was similarly engraved to the blade. The piece is kept within a leather-wrapped scabbard mounted with metal fittings decorated similarly to those found on the sword itself. Germany, 18th century.
