A KATZBALGER SWORD, SWITZERLAND, SOUTHERN GERMANY - Short sword, Katzbalger, Switzerland, southern Germany, in the style of around 1520, probably made in the second half of the 19th century. Long, drawn-out iron pommel with rivet pommel and three narrow grooves along the longitudinal axis. Shorthorn grip with a continuation of the three hollow grooves over an undecorated iron ferrule. Typical horizontally S-shaped curved quillons with spherical ends and corded decorative fillets. Relatively heavy and heavily ground, double-edged blade with a rounded point. Three deeply struck cross marks at the base on one side. Two narrow fullers along the longitudinal axis of the blade. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
